In the Plate final, the Division Two Marsh 'A' team of Steve Martin (27), Ed Bowen (15) and Steve Dunn (22) were conceding a team total of 72 handicap points to the Division Three Woollybats team of Tony Hodkinson (32), Frank Patient (26) and Sarah Napier (30).
In contrast to the other final, early games in the Plate final saw a more cautious approach from both sets of players with neither side wanting to lose points due to mistakes.

After three games with wins for Hodkinson and Napier, Woolybats had gained an advantage over their opponents. As the tie progressed, Bowen got the better of Hodkinson in game four only for Napier and Patient to beat Martin and Dunn respectively to leave Woollybats with a 35 points advantage after taking account of each team’s handicaps.
At this stage of the match the players seemed to adopt a more attacking approach with noticeable strong hitting from Patient.
In game seven Bowen beat Napier to slightly reduce the margin, but Hodkinson and Patient responded for Woollybats winning the final two games to leave them Plate winners by 580 points to 512 points.
